DLP(Data Loss Protection/ Prevention)

DLP stands for Data Loss Protection/ Prevention which is part of the organizational level security strategy.

‘DLP is to protect or prevent data from getting in wrong hands.’

DLP is normally handled and maintained by the Risk department in an organization where standards and policies are followed to protect data from intruders. We know, the starting point of all the standards and policies start from Regulatory bodies.

The moment you expose your data to outsider via Internet, the DLP comes into action. One must take care of their own data from intruders and hackers. In previous era we had the choices to connect to external world or not, but now NO, we don’t have a choice, we must connect to social media to pull data, we must connect to cloud etc.
