Where Data Virtualization and Data Federation do not host any copy of data in its environments, Data Consolidation on the other hand keeps complete historical copies of all the data coming from all the source systems. In this process sometimes, a complex ETL or ELT takes place to process data in different data models and sometimes one to one data model is maintained.
